Refund Policy
Refund Policy for DonateYou
Effective Date: [27-04-2025]
Thank you for using DonateYou to support important causes.
This Refund Policy explains when and how donations may be refunded.
Please read this carefully before making or requesting a donation refund.
By using DonateYou, you agree to this Refund Policy, our Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy.
1. General Rule: Donations Are Non-Refundable
In general, all donations made through DonateYou are final and non-refundable.
Once a donation is processed, it is immediately sent to the Campaign owner or held in escrow pending release.
DonateYou does not automatically issue refunds unless:

Required by law

Fraudulent activity is detected

A technical error occurs (e.g., duplicate transaction)
2. Requesting a Refund
Donors may request a refund under specific circumstances:

The request is made within 72 hours of the donation date

The Campaign has not yet withdrawn the funds
-
There is evidence of misuse or fraud
To request a refund:

Include your full name, email address, donation amount, Campaign name, and reason for the request
We review all refund requests on a case-by-case basis.
3. Conditions for Refund Eligibility
Refunds may be approved if:

The donation was made in error (e.g., duplicate payment)

The Campaign violates DonateYou’s Terms of Service (e.g., fraud, illegal activity)

The Campaign is canceled by the organizer before funds are disbursed
Refunds will not be provided if:

Funds have already been withdrawn by the Campaign owner
-
A donor changes their mind after the donation is processed
-
The donor disagrees with the Campaign owner’s spending of funds (unless it violates platform policies)
4. Chargebacks and Disputes
If a donor initiates a chargeback through their credit card provider:

DonateYou reserves the right to dispute the chargeback with supporting documentation.

If the chargeback is successful, the associated Campaign owner may be required to return funds and may have their account suspended.
Frequent chargebacks may result in account suspension for donors or Campaign owners.
5. Responsibility of Campaign Owners
Campaign owners are solely responsible for:

Using donations for the stated purpose

Issuing refunds directly to donors if they choose to offer one (outside DonateYou’s system)
DonateYou is not liable for disputes between Campaign owners and donors.
6. Technical Errors
In cases where technical issues (e.g., payment gateway errors, website glitches) result in:

Duplicate donations
-
Incorrect donation amounts
We will investigate and process refunds accordingly.
If a payment processor (such as Stripe or PayPal) determines that an error occurred on their end, their refund policy will also apply.

7. Refund Processing Time
Approved refunds are generally processed within 5–10 business days, depending on:

Your bank’s processing time

Your credit card company’s rules

Payment provider timelines (Stripe, PayPal, etc.)
Refunds are credited back to the original method of payment used at the time of donation.
8. Campaign Cancellations
If a Campaign is canceled before funds are withdrawn:

DonateYou will attempt to refund all donations automatically where feasible.

Refunds may not be possible if certain conditions apply (e.g., expired cards, unavailable payment method).
9. Fraudulent Campaigns
If a Campaign is found to be fraudulent:

DonateYou may freeze the funds and attempt to return donations to donors.

We reserve the right to pursue legal action against fraudulent Campaign owners.
Fraudulent behavior may also be reported to local law enforcement authorities.
10. No Guarantee of Full Recovery
While DonateYou will make reasonable efforts to honor valid refund requests, we cannot guarantee:

Recovery of all funds (especially if already disbursed)

Full refunds in complex dispute cases
In some cases, you may need to pursue a refund directly with your bank or card issuer.
11. Changes to This Refund Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time.
When we make changes, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of the page.
We encourage you to review this page periodically.
