Campaign Creation Guidelines – DonateYou
Effective Date: [27-04-2025]
At DonateYou, we are proud to support real people, real needs, and real causes.
We want every campaign on our platform to be authentic, respectful, and safe.
Before you start a fundraising campaign, please review these guidelines carefully.
By creating a campaign on DonateYou, you agree to follow these rules, along with our Terms of Service and Safety & Security Policy.
✅ What Campaigns Are Allowed?
You can create a DonateYou campaign for many purposes, including:
Medical expenses: surgeries, treatments, recovery costs
Funeral and memorial costs
Emergency assistance: natural disasters, accidents, fires
Personal hardship: housing crises, lost employment, family emergencies
Community causes: school programs, sports teams, neighborhood projects
Education expenses: tuition, books, classroom materials
Charity fundraising: for registered nonprofits or verified causes
Creative projects: art, music, books (must be honest about intended outcomes)
Animal welfare: pet surgeries, rescue efforts, shelter support
If you’re fundraising for someone else, make sure you clearly explain your relationship to the beneficiary.
🚫 What Campaigns Are Not Allowed?
You may not create campaigns that involve:
Fraudulent or deceptive content (misleading donors about the purpose)
Illegal activities (drugs, organized crime, money laundering, terrorism)
Weapons funding (guns, explosives, ammunition)
Gambling, raffles, lotteries, or betting
Political campaigns or lobbying (without prior approval)
Hate speech, discrimination, or violence of any kind
Adult content or sexually explicit material
Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes, or get-rich-quick scams
Investment opportunities or securities offerings (DonateYou is not an investment platform)
Campaigns that violate intellectual property rights (e.g., using copyrighted images without permission)
Violation of these rules may result in the removal of your campaign, suspension of your account, and possible legal action.
For more details, see our Safety & Security Policy.
🖋️ Content Standards
When creating your campaign:
Be Honest: Always tell the truth about your situation, use of funds, and who will benefit.
Be Respectful: Respect the dignity of others — especially when sharing sensitive stories (e.g., medical conditions).
Use Accurate Media: Upload photos, videos, and updates that are your own or that you have permission to use.
Stay Professional: Avoid offensive, graphic, or sensationalized content.
🛡️ Legal Compliance
You are responsible for ensuring your campaign complies with all applicable:
Local, state, national, and international laws
Tax regulations (funds received may be taxable income)
Privacy laws (do not share personal information about others without consent)
If your campaign is raising money for a registered charity or another person, you may be asked to provide documentation to verify your connection.
⚖️ Appeals Process
If your campaign is removed or suspended:
You will receive an email explaining the reason.
You may appeal the decision by contacting our Compliance Team at compliance@donateyou.com.
Appeals must be submitted within 7 days of receiving the removal notice.
The final decision after appeal review is binding.
